About the organisation:

I am representing an organisation within the NSW Government space that are offering a Senior Threatened Species Officer opportunity. This is located in Hurstville, with an aim to help the community conserve and enjoy our environment through species recovery programmes, environmental impact assessments & community engagement.

About the role:

You will be someone who can help develop, implement and deliver species recovery strategies consistent with government polices. You will be coordinating recovery programs for threatened flora species across regional NSW and provide expert advice on a range of conservation & legislative responsibilities towards the proactive recovery of threatened species.

This will include managing the database on distribution, ecology and threats of endangered ecological populations. You will be required to deliver scientifically sound advice on avoidance and offsetting options for major developments.

Another aspect of the role will be conducting community engagement through education programmes. The aim is to help develop partnerships and create awareness on endangered/threatened species, to help facilitate and deliver on the recovery strategies.

About the ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role, but in short you will have:

  • Degree in relevant field
  • Flora Survery Experience
  • Report Writing
  • Full drivers licence
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of government policies surrounding environmental & wildlife policies
  • Working with a complex organisation or State Government highly regarded
