Bejo Tasmania is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bejo Zaden BV, a worldwide developer and producer of quality vegetable seed varieties. Headquartered in Warmenhuizen, Holland, Bejo Zaden is recognised for its innovative breeding, reliable varieties and high quality seed.

Randstad are excited to be partnering with Bejo Tasmania to assist in recruiting two experienced beekeepers as they expand their beekeeping operations within Tasmania.

Your new role

With sites based in Richmond, Cressy, St Helens and the Derwent Valley, these roles will provide avid beekeepers the opportunity to work with Bejo Tasmania’s experienced and passionate teams in all aspect of beekeeping operations. Based on a 40-hour week, night shifts and weekend work during the season may be required.

Day to day duties for this role is varied and will include:

  • Planning and coordination of beekeeping activities for the beekeeping team, on a daily, seasonal and annual basis.
  • Hive management to maximise crop pollination and health of hives, hive construction and maintenance, rearing of Queens for hive-splitting or Queen replacement, and transportation and delivery of hives for pollination.
  • Development of the apiary to service pollination requirements.

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Have extensive knowledge of modern beekeeping practices, or basic experience with the ability and willingness to receive further training. Experience in a commercial beekeeping business is highly desirable.
  • Be able to work flexible hours, in varying conditions, including outdoors and away from home if required to work across sites.
  • Be energetic and self-motivated, but also be able to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Hold a truck, forklift and chainsaw licence, or be prepared to gain these qualifications, along with a first aid certificate.
