Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Avionics - Based in Western Suburbs Brisbane

Immediate start- Must be Australian Citizen and have baseline clearance

Avionics Aircraft Maintenance Engineer:

Duties typically involve the following:

  • Promoting a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with OHS policies and
  • procedures.
  • Ensuring all personnel assigned to maintenance tasks are qualified and certified
  • Maintenance Management Plan.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted with Maintenance Management Plan &
  • approved processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring Tradespersons do not proceed past inspection check points until inspected
  • Ensuring all activities including any ancillary tasks are completed for assigned tasks as required.


  • Able to meet the intent of DEF (AUST) 9022
  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics), or equivalent trade qualification
  • Minimum 5 years aviation experience in maintenance of aircraft and has at least 12 months experience as a fully qualified tradesperson on Aircraft type, (or for workshop maintenance, at least
  • 12 months experience on relevant aeronautical product preferably on a/c type or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise and work to tight timeframes with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated success in the development of effective working relationships within a complex organisational structure to meet team, business unit and organisational goals.
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of aviation Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, aircraft
  • maintenance / modification operating procedures and documentation
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in using Technical Manuals / Publications in the repair of Aeronautical
  • product and systemsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and technical directives
  • Capable in obtaining a Department of Defence security clearance
  • Able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • A positive attitude to Environmental Health & Safety (ISO14001 principles) in the workplace
  • High Professional Standards i.e. Attention to Detail, Self Motivated, Workplace behaviour Demonstrated ability to apply well developed problem solving skills to a variety of technical issues /problems and resolve
  • Ability to meet all the security requirements for ITARS (as required)

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Aircraft maintenance documentation within the ADF regulatory environment
  • Previous experience in a Defence Military Aerospace environment
  • Previous experience on aircraft type (and/ or aircraft component workshop as applicable)
  • Previous experience using Computer-Based Aviation Maintenance Management Systems
  • Previous experience as a Progressive Maintenance Quality Inspector within an aircraft
  • maintenance environment
  • Prior Supervisory or Leadership development training
  • Experience in the use of Boeing business tools (e.g. BBMS, Ematrix, BINs, ERP)
  • Well developed MS Office & Desktop application skills
  • Accredited Work Place Assessor (or demonstrate the capability in obtaining this accreditation)
  • Valid open drivers licence
