About the Role

This role is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective operation of the WHS Assurance Framework through leading assurance activities and systemic safety investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct assurance activities (compliance, system & risk control assessment and audits)
  • Provide a high standard of investigation expertise by leading and managing major and significant systemic safety investigations
  • Identify latent and active issues from a human factors and systems safety perspective that contribute to unsafe outcomes
  • Communicate the findings of assurance and investigation activities
  • Act as a point of contact for local and regional staff for safety assurance or investigation assistance to ensure accurate and consistent advice is provided

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications at a minimum level of Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma in WHS, Safety, Human Factors or a related discipline
  • Experience and demonstarted competency to lead, manage and conduct safety assurance and investigation activities
  • Demonstarted ability to focus strategically in both short and long term and to use creative and critical thinking to analyse complex systemic factors
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of NSW Work Health & Safety legislation and applicable codes of practice and standards
  • Knowledge of contemporary risk management, including 'bow-tie or similar tools
