Testsafe & Engineering, SafeWork NSW

SafeWork NSW is the state’s workplace health and safety regulator. We focus on harm prevention and improving the safety culture in NSW workplaces.

As an Assistant State Inspector working in the specialist field of plant, electrical and engineering, you will work in partnership with the SafeWork NSW Inspectorate and NSW employers to assist them in creating and maintaining workplaces where their employees return home safely each day. You will provide technical advice on best practice and how to comply with WHS legislation.

You will actively participate in the identification, planning and delivery of state-wide strategic industry initiatives and provide input to the national agenda - for example through representation on Australian Standards committees and working with other WHS Regulators. You will also provide technical assistance in the conduct of investigations into causes of workplace incidents, injuries and fatalities involving plant and electrical safety.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a minimum of ten units of competency from the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection), and/or equivalent relevant qualification or above in a related field, and/or 3 years + industry experience.
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply mechanical, civil or electrical engineering principles in a work health and safety context
  • Demonstrate experience working with high risk plant or other high-risk engineering principles
  • Have experience and/or an interest in electricity supply networks, construction industry, electro-mechanics, or hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Enjoy utilising your advanced written and verbal communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate willingness to build capability by mentoring internal and industry stakeholders.
  • Adopt a consultative and collaborative approach to achieving outcomes
  • Adopt a flexible approach to meet both pro-active and re-active demands

Location: Field based position, however base offices are located at Baulkham Hills, Liverpool and Haymarket.

Salary: Salary range starting from $119,083 plus superannuation. Receive an attractive salary package along with packaged motor vehicle options.
