Client Details
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is responsible for the delivery of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Since it was established, the NDIA has pursued a vision of optimising social and economic independence and full participation for people with disability. The Scheme is a once in a generation social and economic reform. It is a new way of providing support for people with disability, their families and carers.


Description
Current focus areas include designing and implementing change management activities to ensure the smooth and effective introduction of new processes, assess the impacts of change on staff, scheme participants, partners and other stakeholders, and develop strategies for management.

The Assistant Director is accountable under broad direction for exercising a considerable degree of independence, managing a small team and for planning, coordinating and delivering detailed and complex Agency change assessments and plans that may impact on strategic or operational outcomes for the NDIA.

Additionally, they will apply knowledge and expertise to keep up to date with new and emerging change management trends and practices in order to develop practical solutions to meet business needs.

The main objectives of the role are to:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate change management plans and schedules in accordance with the Agency’s Change Management Framework and Change Blueprint, while considering change initiative interdependencies
  • Provide expert advice on the development of business impact assessments and change management plans that align with the NDIA Change Management Framework and Change Blueprint
  • Maintain an NDIA-wide view of programs and assist in planning for the management of changes affecting NDIA staff and/or participants, partners and other stakeholders
  • Support the coordination of change management activities in conjunction with the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office, workforce planning and communications teams
  • Identify, assess and report possible change risks or issues, as well as recommending treatment strategies
  • Prepare written briefings and advice to senior leaders and governance bodies on planned change roll-outs
  • Apply project management methodologies to meet deadlines and produce high quality outcomes that address business needs within a complex environment

Profile

  • High level understanding and knowledge of disability, and its impact on individuals
  • Experience with supporting people with a disability to maximise participation in the community
  • High level of competency in designing and consistently applying assessment tools to identify and monitor change activities
  • Competency with IT systems (including Microsoft Excel, Project and visual design tools)
  • Work closely across teams (within the region or nationally) to manage service delivery performance
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks
  • Able to negotiate effectively by listening differing ideas and views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counter-arguments.
  • Ability to manage service delivery performance
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Highly developed ability to synthesise and analyse complex information and make decisions
