The role:

As Assessment Officer, you will be the point of contact for a range of service and administration activities on behalf of the agency. The role is broad and varied, but you will typically be responsible for managing a caseload, supporting the work of the team, and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Your key duties include:

  • Managing incoming telephone approaches from the public, which can include handling difficult conversations
  • Categorising and triaging cases by applying a formal framework
  • Effectively managing cases
  • Identifying, escalating and managing risks
  • Ensuring efficient and accurate recording of information
  • Contributing to the priorities of a team
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicating effectively with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds, and managing unreasonable client conduct
  • Managing own work responsibilities and workload in a timely and efficient manner

In order to be considered for this position you have to be

  • Australian citizen
  • Able to obtain a Baseline Level Security Clearance

  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex information to clients from a diverse range of backgrounds and communicate effectively with internal management
  • Has excellent time-management, being able to the prioritise work and ability to effectively prioritise and manage a caseload
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of data recording
  • Able to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of a team, including assisting with quality assurance and participation in corporate activities
  • Supports the needs of team and the broader agency by taking a flexible and adaptable approach to changing work needs.
