Are you an accomplished and dynamic Executive Officer with extensive experience in Government Board and Committee functions who can hit the ground running?
You will be responsible for the effective functioning and management of the Child Death and Serious Injury Review Committee, an independent statutory body, that undertakes extensive reviews and analysis of the circumstances and causes relating to child death or serious injury, and makes recommendations to the Minister for Education and relevant agencies for improvements to legislation, policies or administrative issues to prevent recurring scenarios.
This is a pivotal role and works within a highly sensitive and complex environment providing professional, informed secretariat and leadership support to the Presiding Member.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing the Committee and its key stakeholders with high level, expert advice on complex subject matters.
- Overseeing, leading and managing the Committee’s death review processes with a view to influencing legislation, policy and practice about the safety and wellbeing of children.
- Initiating and leading processes that support the delivery of complex reports on highly sensitive matters with the intent of influencing policy and practice change across government.
- Leading and managing the Committee’s strategic direction in collaboration with the Presiding member, the Committee and the secretariat, ensuring the committee achieves its goals and outcomes.
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of effective, strategic and collaborative working relationships with the Committee’s key stakeholders.
- Managing administrative, financial and human resource matters in accordance with government and departmental policies and procedures.
Ideally you will possess:
- Proven background in a similar role with a high level of secretariat experience (essential)
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written and an ability to prepare correspondence, reports and briefings of the highest quality.
- An ability to exercise a professional approach and judgment with a high level of confidentiality working with subject matter that is of a very sensitive and confronting nature.
