We are partnering with a highly regarded South Australian public sector organisation to find an exceptional Senior Financial Accountant to join their Shared Services team in Port Adelaide. This is a contract role, starting ASAP in 2025, offering a competitive hourly rate of $63.13 and the opportunity to work in a team where your expertise and analytical mindset will be truly valued.
As Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll report to the Manager of Financial Accounting and play a key role in supporting the Public Trustee’s statements, ensuring business-as-usual continuity, and contributing to a range of financial reporting deliverables.
You'll be at the centre of accurate, timely financial processing, while providing insight and rigour to government finance functions that genuinely impact the community.
Prepare and review high-quality financial statements in line with public sector reporting standards
Support catch-up on BAU tasks, maintaining integrity and timeliness
Assist with the setup and delivery of Public Trustee financials
Manage large volumes of transactional data with accuracy and control
Conduct financial analysis and prepare concise, meaningful reports
Contribute to finance-based project work
Maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and government partners
Degree-qualified in Accounting with a National Police Clearance (mandatory)
Sound knowledge of SA Government financial frameworks and DTF objectives
Excellent Excel and Word skills (intermediate level minimum)
Strong written and verbal communication — clear, professional, and collaborative
Proven ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and meet tight deadlines
A sharp eye for detail and a naturally analytical mindset
Experience within the public sector is highly regarded
