  • 6 Month Contract Non-Ongoing
  • Canberra Location

Are you an experienced Communications Officer who is seeking their next assignment? If so, Randstad would love to hear from you! We are seeking an APS6 Senior Communications Officer to commence work ASAP.

This position is full-time and located in Canberra City. The position is available for immediate start for a period of up to 6 months until 30th June 2019.

About the role:

This role is within the Communication and Engagement Branch and deals with diverse subject matter.

The Communications Officer will perform the following key responsibilities:

Key position responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of strategic communication programs and associated activities including internal communications
  • Undertake key activities to support delivery of advertising campaigns and effective internal communications, including updating and reviewing key communication products and developing website content.
  • Develop and maintain workflow processes to ensure service provision, tasks and activities are efficiently managed and support effective team delivery.
  • Undertake contract management of communication service providers including assisting with the effective management of financial and other resources.
  • Provide analysis on complex issues and contribute to the management, preparation and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.
  • May be required to supervise a team to ensure high quality outputs, including the development of team members at lower classifications, building team capacity and encouraging career development.
  • Develop and support key internal and external relationships, including managing suppliers to achieve work area and agency goals. In addition, represent the agency by promoting its interests in various forums.
  • Provide accurate specialist advice, guidance and reporting on team functional responsibilities.
  • Develop recommendations and make decisions by using professional communications judgement, expertise and knowledge, and by applying legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures. Evaluate risks in the context of a complex and changing environment.

About you:

The successful candidate will need the following key skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar communications role
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in distributing content
  • Ability to update and maintain web sites
  • Eye for design and attention to detail
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications or other relevant field and/or equivalent industry experience
