About The Client

This federal government department is bringing a new appproach to providing support to people with disability and their families and carers. It started its work in 2013 and is currently rolling out in stages across the country.

We are looking for ambitious and dedicated people to work to help make a difference in the community and the lives of hundreds and thousands of Australians.

Duties

• Supporting to deliver engagement activities and projects by applying your communications and engagement experience.
• You may be required to represent the NDIA at external forums and events in a professional and impartial manner, providing information and guidance to people with disability, NDIS participants and the wider community.
• Delivering clear, concise and effective messaging to people with disability, their families and carers as well as other community and mainstream stakeholders.
• Providing input and feedback into the production of content and messaging.
• Maintaining cohesive relationships with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Assisting in managing the state/territory engagement inbox, responding to or triaging enquiries and requests.
• Performing general administrative duties to support in the smooth running of the engagement team.
This role may include intrastate and interstate travel.

Skills Required

• Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability.
• Understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals.

• Adaptable communication and interpersonal skills.
• Has experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders.

• Ability to work within the team and adapt quickly to a changing environment.
• Ability to work closely with participant and their carers.

• Ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
• Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
