About your next role:

In the role of Communications Advisor you will manage low key stakeholders, the community, motorists and the media view and understand transport infrastructure projects, specifically the Bruce Highway Upgrade – Deception Bay Road Interchange Upgrade project (DBRIUP), through communication and community engagement activities that are delivered in a structured, consistent, coordinated and effective manner and adhere to all departmental and public governance requirements.

The role also provides high level communication services and advice to project management, technical and professional staff on community engagement, stakeholder relationship, issues and media management for the project.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide communication direction and leadership to the project
  • Lead, manage, coordinate and direct in a relational manner the tactical and operational communication, community engagement and marketing activities for the project
  • Provide tactical and operational advice on issues management and communication strategies to the Project Manager and project team
  • Regularly liaise, meet and consult with the contractor and North Coast District communications teams to ensure the resolution and implementation of communication strategies and activities
  • Manage and coordinate the development and approval of communication material for the project
  • Develop and maintain ongoing key strategic relationships and networks with other government agencies, project partners, contractors, community and interest groups and internal and external clients
  • Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures

While qualifications are not mandatory, a degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing would be highly desirable.
