Leader:

The project support officer plays a key role in supporting the department’s approach to compliance and investigations, in order to maintain governance.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for reliable, experience and well presented candidates that are available to start as soon as possible. Ideal candidates must ensure they have strong written and verbal communication skills, problem solving and planning skills, as well as legal and government background, in order to support this large government agency.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support case managers and lead investigators to conduct and coordinate significant state-wide operations and Investigations.
  • Undertake concise and accurate note taking, record keeping, data entry and information analysis.
  • Support the collection, recording, classification, analysis and security of evidence as required – this may involve the handling of native wildlife.
  • Establish systems and processes for, as well as undertaking the timely entering and assessment financial, human resource and safety related information.
  • Support the development of correspondence, briefs and related documents.
  • Support logistical and planning activities to support operations and investigations, including case decisions, running sheets and related documentation.
  • Document procedures and checklists for the functions described.
  • Contribute to developing and delivery of elements of the department’s new environmental compliance strategy.
  • Effectively communicate, negotiate and build effective working relationships to manage key internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Support culture improvement initiatives.
  • Support project work across the branch including preparation of high quality reports, briefings and correspondence for a range of audiences on complex issues that may affect the organisation.
  • Ensure the highest ethical standards in the delivery of the department’s objectives, with a strong commitment to values, including safety and wellbeing.

To be successful for this role, it is essential that you have:

  • A sound understanding of environmental management principles and familiarity with Victoria’s environmental regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in concise and accurate administration and information management
  • An appropriate qualification in investigations - Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent Legal Background would be desirable.
  • Police Check and/or AGSVA security clearance.
