This role is focused on supporting their booming program of transformative transport infrastructure projects on the Sunshine Coast Region.
The core purpose of this position is to lead compelling communication and stakeholder initiatives that drive community understanding and inspire confidence in the exciting progress and innovative infrastructure being delivered. The role acts as the key interface, connecting the community with the social and economic benefits of these large-scale government investments.

- Lead Strategic Communication: Drive the development, implementation, and management of communication plans and campaigns for various projects across the Sunshine Coast Region.
Create Compelling Content: Work closely with project delivery teams to craft clear, relatable, and jargon-free messaging. This includes producing engaging materials such as media releases, newsletters, and social media content.
Build Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including contractors, community groups, and senior leaders.
Provide Expert Advice: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and project teams, offering timely and expert guidance on communication best practices and engagement strategies.
Proactively Manage Challenges: Identify and address potential issues before they arise by developing strategies to ensure a smooth flow of communication, particularly in fast-paced or high-profile environments.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and a natural storyteller who can convert complexity into clarity.
Essential qualities and experience include:
Experience: Previous experience in communications, stakeholder, and community engagement, or public relations is required, with a preference for experience in government or infrastructure.
Infrastructure Understanding: A strong understanding of infrastructure and a proven ability to communicate the success stories of large projects.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Community Engagement: Proven ability to engage communities and manage messaging with sensitivity.
Mindset: A proactive, solutions-focused approach to challenges.
A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is highly desirable, as is IAP2 Certification (International Association for Public Participation).
Employment Details
Role Type: contractor position.
Working Hours: Maximum of 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.. Public holidays are non-working days.
Pay Rate: Compensation ranges from $77.02 to $82.40 per hour, based on experience and suitability, determined during the hiring process.
