Young people in
Australia are becoming increasingly likely to spend their time moving between various low-paid, part-time positions, according to a new study.
The Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) teamed up with experts from the University of Melbourne to investigate the working patterns of people at the start of their careers.
One of the most notable conclusions is that the stability of young people's jobs record has decreased in recent years.
The report, entitled How Young People are Faring (HYPAF), also showed that the relative wealth and economic prosperity of the country is not being passed on to younger
employees.
Jan Owen, FYA's chief executive officer, said: "It is clear from HYPAF 2011 that young adults are more vulnerable than the rest of the population to economic instability. They are suffering from the decline in full-time job prospects."
The Australian Bureau of Statistics recently found that nation's unemployment rate was 5.2 per cent during October.
