Employees in
Australia are tending to enjoy higher incomes and to live longer, new data have indicated.
In addition, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) found the average citizen is better educated than their counterparts ten years ago.
Unemployment declined in the country from 6.3 per cent in 2000 to 5.2 per cent in 2010, with national wealth per person rising from $285,700 to $308,500.
However, the organization also noted that productivity has fallen in the last decade by 2.1 percentage points.
The Measures of Australia's Progress report revealed average life expectancy has climbed over the period in question by two to three years, a higher proportion of the population holds higher education qualification and there has been expansion of average incomes by $8,200.
Recent ABS research found that the number of families with dependents who are out of work has remained relatively stable over the past few years, with 10.5 per cent of Australia's 2.9 million households affected.
