Employment within
Australia's resource sector will be supported by the establishment of a new taskforce.
The Kevin Rudd-led government has created a taskforce to assist in the recruitment of an estimated 70,000 skilled workers to the energy industry in the next ten years.
Specifically, the agency will play a major role in the AU$50 billion Gorgan gas project, which will double the country's production of natural gas by 2013 and require more than 6,000 workers at its peak.
This taskforce will also be investigating methods of generating employment within
logistics, transport, maintenance and hospitality.
The number of skilled vacancies in
Australia rose for the first time in nearly two years last month, according to figures released by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
Australia's economic outlook is also continuing to improve, with the Australian Industry Group revealing that manufacturing demand grew in August for the first time in 14 months.
