Further
employment growth was seen in Australia during October 2011, with the number of people working rising by 10,100 during the month.
This is according to figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics published today (November 10th), which revealed a total of 11,462,300 individuals were in
employment last month.
The majority (8,067,400) held a full-time position, with the number taking such a role rising by 20,000.
However, there was a dip in part-time
employment, which fell by 9,900 to 3,394,800.
As a result, the country's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 5.2 per cent - the equivalent of 630,800 - with the labor force participation rate recorded at 65.6 per cent.
The rise in
employment prompted an increase in monthly aggregate working hours, which climbed by 10.4 million in the month to reach 1.62 billion.
Concerns were recently raised by the Clarius Group that there may be a shortage of workers for
healthcare,
education and
engineering in the country, as older employees retire and are not replaced.
